Reservations and Payments
A deposit of $300 per person is required upon reservation to guarantee the space. Payment must be made by personal check or money order only. Credit cards are not accepted.
A final payment is due 60 days prior to departure. Failure to comply with the requirement will result in automatic cancellation of tour reservation. |

Cancellation Policy
All requests for cancellation must be made in writing. CTS applies the following penalties for cancellation.
60 days or more prior to departure: $300 per person
59 days within departure: $1,000 per person
After departure: No refund is available.
Minimum Number of Participants
Should the total number of tour members fall below 10 participants two months prior to departure, CTS reserves the right to cancel the tour. In such case, full* refund will constitute full settlement with the participants.
Change of Tour Price and Itinerary
CTS reserves the right to make reasonable adjustments in tour prices and itineraries in accordance with the circumstances of our lodgings, transportation, local hosts, and unforeseeable events. In such case, participants are allowed to cancel reservations within 7 days of the notice and receive full* refund.
*Please note that our refund covers only the tour price. Other expenses such as airfare, travel insurance premium, passport fees, pre and/or post-tour arrangements are not covered in any case of cancellation.
Travel Insurance
We highly recommend you obtain travel and health insurance to provide yourself the optimum protection from unanticipated medical and travel difficulties.
Medical and Health Precautions
You are required to inform us before the commencement of the tour any medical or psychological conditions that might affect your welfare or the group's welfare. CTS reserves the right to request a medical certificate from your physician(s) and /or disqualify anyone at any time before or during the trip for medical or psychological reasons.
Baggage Limit
A baggage delivery service will be used to handle your baggage in Japan. However, the tour price includes a delivery fee of only one piece of baggage per person. Additional baggage will cost $20 per piece for each delivery. We strongly recommend that you travel lightly.
Choice of Meals
Requests for vegetarian meals and any other special needs (for example, sodium restricted diets) cannot be accommodated in group meals included in the itinerary. CTS cannot assume responsibility for ascertaining food ingredients or preparation beforehand and providing warnings, nor are we liable in case of allergic and other food reactions. CTS reserves the right to decline to accept persons with conditions beyond our scope of responsibility.
Tour Conditions
CTS's Japan tours are carefully planned to accommodate participants of all ages and cultural background. However, the tour is not for everyone. Before you sign up for the tour, please read the following and be aware of our unique tour conditions.
Physical Mobility
The tour includes 1- 3 miles walking tour everyday. You will walk on paved streets, modest slopes and stairs. Though the tours are not rigorous adventures, you should be confident of physical mobility to negotiate staircases of a 3 story building on foot.
Group Activities and Participants' Responsibility
Tour leader will adhere to tour schedules to serve the best interest of all participants. In case you miss tour departures and/or lag behind group activities such as a walking tour, you are expected to catch up with the tour by your own means.
Meals
For group meals included in tour cost, special meal requests cannot be honored nor can your tour escort assume responsibility for ascertaining and providing food ingredients and preparation.
Eateries
Almost all meals during our tour will be taken at tables with chairs, but on some occasions, we will be seated on the floor. (Let us know if you need a backrest or any assistance.)
Accommodations
We stay in modest class hotels, which are clean, decent and well equipped, yet smaller than average American hotel rooms.
Japanese Inn
We will stay in western-style hotels most nights, but we will stay a night or two in J apanese-style rooms, where you will sleep in futon on tatami floors.
Toilets
Western-style toilets are to be found in our lodgings and most public facilities, but you may sometimes encounter Asian-style facilities which will require you to squat.
Community Travel Service LLC's Responsibility
The responsibility of Community Travel Service LLC (CTS) is strictly limited. As a tour operator, CTS organizes, promotes and sells tour programs consisting of certain travel services, including but not limited to, surface transportation, sightseeing excursions and hotel accommodations which CTS purchases and/or reserves from various suppliers. The suppliers providing travel services for CTS's tour programs are independent contractors and are not agents or employees of CTS. To the extent that CTS is involved in the sale of air transportation to you, CTS acts as an agent of the air carrier. For all other purposes, CTS does not act as agents for any party whatsoever. CTS is not responsible for the willful or negligent acts and/or omissions of such suppliers or of any air carrier or their respective employees, agents, servants or representatives including, without limitation, their failure to deliver or their partial or inadequate delivery of services. All coupons, receipts and tickets are issued subject to the terms and conditions specified by the suppliers and/or air carriers. By utilizing the travel services of the suppliers, you agree that neither CTS or any representative shall be liable for any accident, injury, property damage or personal loss to you or to those traveling with you in connection with any accommodations, transportation or other travel services, or resulting directly or indirectly from any occurrences or conditions beyond CTS' control including, but not limited to, acts of terrorism, hijackings, war, defects in vehicles, breakdown in equipment, strikes, theft, delay or cancellations of or changes in itinerary or schedules. Optional tours, guided or otherwise, are recommendatory and their costs at your own expense. CTS' choices of these optional tours are made on information available when selected. CTS does not assure, however, the continuity of the circumstances prevailing when the selections were made and/or that such optional tours assure the safety, convenience and personal well-being of your person. Consequently, the undertaking of these optional tours is at your discretion and sole judgment. And when undertaking these optional tours, you are assumed to be on your own and to conduct yourself accordingly. CTS reserves the right to decline to accept or retain any person as a member of any tour. Throughout the duration of the tour, participants are expected to conduct themselves in a reasonable and responsible manner.
